A better way is to use something you already have; your central heat and air conditioner (HVAC)! Simply changing the air filter you use with a more innovative one can make all the difference in the world. Depending on the type of air filter you choose you can cut up to 95% of the particles in your home. Most people currently use the air filters from the grocery store. But what they don’t know is that those cheapo blue filters do nothing for your air quality – they merely block large particles form reaching the HVAC sytem. While the cheapo blue filters are better than nothing wouldn’t you rather protect the HVAC system AND your self and family? By introducing a pleated style filter you can get greater air filtration without causing damage to your HVAC filter system. The best of the pleated filters are only purchased through your HVAC dealer and will carry a higher MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) rating. If the filter you’re using has no MERV number you can be pretty sure it is sub standard and you should seek a better filter.
