The Environment and Private Jet Charter

It would seem obvious that someone like Prince Charles will not be booking a flight with everyday people. That said, many environmentalists cite the damage to the environment caused by private jet charter transport. Aside from using a lot of fuel, these planes put greenhouse gases and other toxic chemicals into the atmosphere for what seems like a trivial purpose. Among other things, acid rain and many other problems are the result of too many jet charter flights.

In addition, the resources that go to build private jet charter planes could just as easily be used to service a larger number of clients. One has only to read about strip mining in Africa and the American western states to realize the manufacture of airplanes also causes a great deal of damage to the environment. That said, considering the number of air charter planes in existence, perhaps the best thing to do is use them for their intended purpose.

Finally, even though all planes carry an inherent risk of crashing, consider that a private jet charter plane will crash with fewer people on board. While this may be a blessing in terms of lives saved, it still results in the same level of environmental disaster for the planet. One has only to consider what would happen if a private jet charter plane were to land in an endangered habitat that is only a few miles in size.  Such an event could easily exterminate a whole species of plants or animals. When you consider the fact that the air charter flight was mainly for convenience, chances are you will not be pleased with the ever increasing availability of private jet charter services.
