Under the Canopy
When my best friend moved to their new home, I was crushed. Angela was my longest friend; I’ve been with her though elementary. High school became unbearable for me when she went away. I always miss out meetings in that school fixed canopy where we hang out during dismissal.
In my first day at junior high, I was alone. I still sit there at the familiar shed, missing my old friend, when a girl came up to me and asked my name. She said she was new here and she had no friend. She asked if she could sit down with me under the canopies.
Her name is Andrea. Now, isn’t that surprising? I easily got comfortable with her and soon we were chatting away. I still miss my friend Angela, who is away. But I’m glad to have another BFF who’ll be meeting with me under the same canopy.
